Abstract : In recent years, an increasing number of junior laboratories have been emerging in French universities. These "research incubators" offer an opportunity to bring together PhD students from a research group around a common project for which they are responsible. Junior laboratories are most often created in response to a call for projects, which results in the allocation of an annual budget entirely dedicated to the laboratory’s activities. This funding allows for the organization of regular scientific events (workshops, seminars, conferences) and supports a collective, interdisciplinary reflection on a given topic over a limited period (an average of two years). The work conducted within a junior laboratory can lead to the publication of various outputs, such as thematic dossiers, book translations, or podcasts. These initiatives contribute to doctoral training alongside dissertation work and can play a role in shaping a professional career path. How can one set up a junior laboratory within their university? What funding sources are available? And what are the expected outcomes? These questions will be at the heart of the roundtable discussion, where coordinators of junior laboratories from the IdA network will share their experiences and insights on the subject.
