Organization : Laurence Cossu-Beaumont (VP IdA, Secrétaire Générale SAES, Université Sorbonne Nouvelle) et Marion Gautreau (VP SoFHIA, Université Toulouse 2 - Jean Jaurès) Speakers : Caroline LEPAGE (SoFHIA president, Université Paris Nanterre), Mathieu DUPLAY (AFEA president, Université Paris Cité), Patrick LEMAIRE (CNRS, founder and president of the Collège des Sociétés Savantes Académiques de France)
Abstract : Starting with a brief historical review of the creation of learned societies, which americanists members are (SoFHIA, SAES, AFEA), the aim of this round table is to present their role in the academic ecosystem, from the point of view of scientific animation or career support. The federation of various disciplines, within the French College of Academic Learned Societies (Collège des Sociétés Savantes Académiques de France), also makes it possible to consider more broadly the questions linked to the current conditions of Americanist research in social sciences and humanities, or to the articulation with civil society. Finally, the opportunities offered by possible convergences between North and South Americanist research, through collaborations between learned societies, will be discussed.
