Abstract :

Research-creation is a nascent indiscipline in French universities, where its definition has a strong humanities dimension. It seeks to hybridize more traditional research and artistic methods, in order to question research and produce knowledge through new thought experiments. It was born in this form in Canada, where it has become an integral part of university practice. It is also important in Brazil, and is developing in Argentina and Mexico, whereas it is not practiced under this term in the United States. In this round table, we'll be looking at the situation or diversity of trans-American research-creation situations. By calling on colleagues (teacher-researchers and doctoral students) specializing in Quebec, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, the Caribbean and the United States,  we'll be looking at the ways in which research-creation has developed in the academic contexts of these countries: its development, its relative acceptance, its limits. We'll look at the relative development of research-creation in the economic and academic contexts that are so different in the Americas.
